History of the Les Arches cuvée
Following the launch of its own beer, the InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu continues its commitment to local partnerships with the creation of its red wine. This initiative is part of the hotel’s dedication to showcasing unique products, developed in partnership with passionate artisans.
The Cuvée Les Arches is the result of meticulous work and a meeting between the Intercontinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu and the Chai Saint Olive, the first urban cellar in Lyon. Together, we united our know-how to give birth to an authentic wine, reflecting our common passion for excellence and the terroir.
Creation of the cuvée
This cuvée, conceived and created by the staff of the InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu, is the result of a harmonious blend of Gamay, Syrah, and Viognier. This bold combination gives the wine a beautiful complexity and a subtle balance between freshness and richness.
From the very first aromas, it captivates with its intense fruitiness, revealing generous notes of raspberry and ripe cherry. On the palate, the attack is supple and silky, evolving into a lovely roundness, supported by delicate tannins and a spicy touch provided by the Syrah. The Viognier, meanwhile, adds a light floral note and a lovely liveliness, prolonging the pleasure through to a delicately fruity and elegant finish.
A name, a reference
Its name, Les Arches, echoes the emblematic architecture of the Hôtel-Dieu, symbolizing both strength and stability. It also embodies a link between the past and the present, inviting to a timeless and memorable experience. The arches reflect the values of welcome and sharing, so dear to the hotel industry and to the spirit of conviviality that animates our house.
